As an Africologist by training, I am fundamentally concerned with applying an [Afrocentric] perspective to the study of African peoples and phenomena. My general area of academic concentration is African American cultural expression, with specific attention to the [Hip-Hop] movement.

My research interests are primarily concerned with locating Hip-Hop. That means I am attempting to understand the Hip-Hop movement on its own social and political terms, thus, locating it within the cultural-historical matrix of out of which it asserts itself.
